Silent Auctions May Be Disappearing This Year…

At this time we have not had anyone step forward to coordinate or help with our Winter Concert Silent Auctions. Is this something that you would like to work on? Our Winter Orchestra Concert will be held on Thursday, December 17, and our Winter Band Concert will be held on Monday, December 21.

Please contact any of our Boosters for more information on how you can help with this fundraiser, that supports our entire instrumental music program.

Silent Auctions – We need your help!
Coordinator(s) Needed!
At this time, we do not have a coordinator(s) for our Winter Concert Silent Auctions! We cannot move forward with this fundraiser without a coordinator(s) for this event. Silent auctions take place at our Winter Orchestra Concert on Thursday, December 17, and at our Winter Band Concert on Monday, December 21.

Student Baskets?
Even if students are willing (they love doing baskets!) to prepare silent auction baskets as they have in the past, we still need a coordinator! Could this be the perfect position for you?

What does the Silent Auction Coordinator do?
The Silent Auction Coordinator. along with the help of volunteers sends out letters to local businesses (i.e., MN Twins, hotels, restaurants, retail stores) asking for donations to KIMB to auction off at our winter concerts. Silent auction request letters are also sent home with students to solicit donations from employers, businesses, and to friends or family that may be interested in donating. The coordinator, along with the help of many volunteers, wraps baskets, prepares bidding sheets, and sends out thank you letters to all donors.

We have plenty of information about “how” to do the Silent Auctions on file. The following Silent Auction materials are already prepared but just need updating: information letter, parent donation forms, business donation letter. If you are interested in coordinating or volunteering to help with our Winter Silent Auctions, we need to know now! To ensure a successful silent auction, planning early is key. Please let us know if you are interested in working on this great fundraising event that benefits our entire instrumental music program.

StarTribune Important Info!

Hi Everyone,

Thank you all for your support as we have made the switch in our collating process.

We are off in November-though we may be called upon to work on Thanksgiving Eve along with the choir. I will work out the details and let you know how many people will be needed. The collating begins at 4pm that day, and takes about 2-2.5 hours.

December is the next month that will be our responsibility. I will send out my request for helpers around Nov. 15th.

The good news is that we have already been paid for 10/3. They pay bi-weekly, so funds will be available quickly! If you have any questions-just shoot me an email, or call me on my cell!

Booster Meeting Tuesday, October 27

Kennedy Band & Orchestra Parents,

You are invited to attend a General Booster Meeting, Tuesday, October 27, at 7:00pm in the Band Room.

Agenda items will include: Bergin Fruit Sale, Herberger’s Community Day Event, and Barnes & Noble Bookfair fundraisers, Chicago trip, upcoming Marching Band concert, the direction of our music program, silent auction, and open volunteer positions.

Herberger’s Community Day Event Coupon Selling!

To Kennedy Band & Orchestra Students and Parents,

We have openings available starting this weekend, for you to sell Herberger’s Community Day coupon books in the store. For every $5 coupon book you sell, you keep $5! Each booklet contains coupons valid during the Community Day One Day Sale on November 14th.

Available times are:

Saturday, October 3,12:00-2:00 (2 openings), Sunday, October 4, 12:00-2:00 (2 openings), 2:00-4:00 (2 openings),

Saturday, October 10, 2:00-4:00 (2 openings), Sunday, October 11, 12:00-2:00 (2 openings),

Star Tribune Papers Are Back!

Hi Everyone,

If you haven’t heard the good news, we are back in business with the Star Tribune! We have been given quite a few tables to share with the Kennedy Choir. We will be collating every other month-our first month will be October. We will be handling tables differently, as there are almost twice as many tables as we had before. The choir has been collating papers in September, and has been doing it in the following way:

We will begin at 12:30 and go for about 2-3 hours.
We have about 3700 papers total! I would like to have 8 or 9 people to collate 400-450 papers each.
Table totals range from 50-200 and will be assigned upon arrival.
Five weekends to fill in Oct. 3,10,17,24, 31. Please let me know which days you would like to work.
There will be an initial limit of 3 days per student-but anticipate that all students may be able to collate as often as they wish. For now, just sign up for a max of three. You may have multiple people from your family sign-up.

Don’t forget to order your Kennedy Band and Orchestra Spirit Wear Hoodie! Navy blue fleece, full-zippered hoodies are available in men’s sizes only. Priced at $35-$40.

And we have baseball caps available in navy or gold with “Kennedy Band and Orchestra” printed on side . Caps are $15.

MB- 5:00 Football Game!

Hi Everyone-
Don’t forget the football game is an early game tomorrow. Kickoff is at 5:00 so we have to be at school by 3:15. This is really early parents- you may want to send extra food or money for your student to get something to eat at the game.
I only have a few parents listed for tomorrow – Dina R. and Dwight and Lori G. have said that they can help too. If you are able to meet us at the stadium that would be great – I’ll try to work it out with Kris Krenz about getting in – be aware that they may be reluctant at the gate – we’ll see what we can do – but they may want to charge you admission. Anyway if you can help out in the stands and also lining the band up for the field show with markers and podium, that would be great.
If you can help out back at school after the game that would be awesome too!
I will not be able to check my email during the day tomorrow.

More Barnes & Noble Gift Wrapping Dates!

Due to high interest in gift wrapping at Barnes & Noble, we are looking into setting up some additional dates.

If you would like to participate in gift wrapping, around the holiday season, please let me know if and when you are available. Store shifts run 10-2, 2-6, and 6-10pm Monday thru Saturday, and on Sunday the last shift runs 6-9:00pm, since the store closes at 9:00.
